Jesse McDermott-Hughes is an artist and photographer from New Jersey currently based on the Oregon coast. He has spent the past 5 years documenting the coastal life in Oregon. Initially this imagery consisted of digital, heavily saturated, surreal coastal landscape, wave and wave-riding pictures that portrayed the fantastical escapism of the Oregon surfing life. This artistic chapter amounted to a collection of framed artwork and a exhibition entitled “Oregon Ocean Obsessed”.

Following this showing, Jesse pivoted to film photography and his subject matter broadened to encompass life as he sees it. His film photography does not exist as a picture of escapism and isolation in the manner that his digital photography did. Instead, this imagery brings us - the people who interact with and shape our coastline into focus. It highlights the forces, natural and unnatural, that alter the form of the coastline and the lives of coastal people.

In addition to his personal work, he photographs weddings and other events professionally.
